Here’s a pictorial review on the Republic Attack Gunship. Below are some general details before we start off with the review:

    Details:
    Price: RM800
    Pieces: 1034 (around 77sen/piece)
    Minifigs: 5
    Year released: 2008

    Box art:
The box also needed you to tear the side in order to open it.

    Front view:

    Side view:

    Back view:
Just like any other box, it shows you the functions of the set and advertises other set.

    Content:
The content is 18 packets of bricks, two loose long technic pin, two instruction books and a decal.

    Instruction book:
    Two instruction book included.

    Decal:

    Weapons:
Two short blaster rifles are given and it is enough for the minifigs but not for the gunship as it left 2 more space for blaster rifle. There are also four lighsaber included, two blue and two red with bend hilt.

    Commando Gear pack:
There is two pack of commando gear included. They are pack separately from other bricks.

    Here's the content:

    Minifigs:
There are five minifigs included with this set, 2 Jedi that include a brand new Plo Koon, a Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress and two Clone. All of them are new minifigs.

    Asajj Ventress:
Closer look at her head, as the back of the head is printed, I guess is her tattoo.

    Plo Koon:
Plo Koon head is very detail, just that the paint was not nicely printed.

    Clone Troopers:
Here’s Commander Cody and his Clone Trooper.

    Command outpost:
Here’s the command post, and it was a fantastic design. The monitor can be folded as the connectors are made from battle droid arm. Too bad, the monitor is made from sticker. But overall, this is still a neat command post.

    Bacta tank:
The bacta tank is somehow complicated, as you can see both side are not even, one side is deeper while the other are a bit shallow. All you need to do is to put the minifig inside (the minifig can’t be attach to the base or else it can’t be close).

    Speeder Bike:
LEGO has made a different kind of speeder bike, the speeder bike has new look now. I actually like the design of this new speeder bike, but also I like the speeder bike from Clone Turbo Tank, it was nicely made too. This new speeder bike looks a little accurate, especially while the pose of the Clone Trooper while riding on it. Below are some shot of it from different angle:

    Spy Droid:
The spy droid design is simple and very small, that’s why they can be store in the ship.

    Republic Attack Gunship:
Here's some shot of the Republic Attack Gunship.

    Front shot:

    Side shot:

    Rear shot:

    Top Shot:

    Cockpit:
There are two cockpits at the front, one above and one below. LEGO gives us decal to stick on the windscreen on the higher cockpit to make it more detail. The monitor in the cockpit is made from decal. However I didn’t stick them.

    Command outpost storage compartment:
The front compartment is for command outpost storage use. It is right below the cockpit and the door is the lift up kind, nice one. However there is a hole below.

    Bacta tank storage compartment:
There are two pieces holding the bacta tank from falling off, and the pieces work out great as you just need to lift it to remove the bacta tank.

    Spy droid storage compartment:
This compartment was at the top of the ship, the hatch is quite tight.

    Weapon storage compartment:
It was located right above the troop bay door, I guess it can only store light saber hilt and pistols as shown in the instruction book.

    Flick fire mechanism:
There are 8 flick-fire parts on top of the gunship. They can get loose easily.

    Troop bay:
The troop bay door open sideways just like in the movie or animation.

Here’s the troop bay, kind of small, don’t think it can carry much Clone Trooper with the speeder bike inside.

I placed additional of blaster rifle there since only 2 are included with the set.

The troop bay is actually connected to the bacta tank storage compartment. The height of that hole is just fit for a minifig.

    Rear Hatch:
The rear hatch is made for releasing the speeder bike from the troop bay. But it will be block if the troop bay door is open.

    Composite beam pinpoint laser turret:
There are two composite beam pinpoint laser turrets on both side of the wing, one at each wing. It can be seated by Clone Trooper inside. The part are printed bricks too, no decal needed for it. Again, to add a little more detail, you have to use the decal to create a monitor screen.

The minifig will move to the side by itself as they are not attachable to the seat.

I guess a lot of people are curious about the rear top hatch. It’s actually nothing inside. Below are the pictures:

    Extra parts:
There are a lot of extra parts included in this set, included Asajj Ventress bend lightsaber hilt.

    Completion:

This vehicle is highly recommended to all LEGO Star Wars fans collector as there are a lot of functions besides it is heavy. Other than that, it is pretty accurate with the Republic Gunship in Clone Wars series.

    Functions:
    -flick fire mechanism
-troop bay doors that open and close
-troop bay able to keep speeder bike
-back hatch that open to deploy speeder bike
-top hatch open that release spy droid
-front compartment that keep command outpost
-front hatch that open to release command outpost
-bacta tank that can store minifig
    -compartment for bacta tank
-movable hatch to hold bacta tank
-two rotatable anti-personnel turret in front and one behind
    -cockpits windscreen that open
-composite beam pinpoint laser turret on both wing that can open
    -four compartment that store weapons

    Pros:
    -nice design
    -high playbility
    -new minifigs
    -many extra parts

    Cons:
    -too few blasters
    -insufficient clone trooper minifig
    -decals

    Final verdict:
Playability: 10/10 As you can see from above, there are a lot of functions.
Design : 10/10 The ship itself is pretty cool and LEGO design it pretty well.
Price : 5/10 This giant is sure expensive.
Overall: 10/10 A very cool gunship with a lot of functions.

    Great review!

This was one of those sets which I had to get it when I saw it. Big, feature pack but expensive.  Too bad it is so expensive that gradually the need for it wore off and I bought other sets which are cheaper.

For the box, put in suitcase and pack the piece bags between clothes  to prevent damage.  Grin

This is seriously a cool set. Have a lot function, but LEGO did not put missiles on both side of the wing.
