Used in vast number and remote controlled, the Recon Robot is the Spyrius faction backbone of galactic operation. It's all terrain 6 wheel setup allows it to traverse even the rockiest asteroid, while its telescopic arms with pincers allow it to excel anything for menial cargo lifting work to offensive actions on untold battlefields.
The Recon Robot's operators are highly skilled in controlling their machines. Each is equipped with a light weight control remote that can control up to 50 Recon Robots at a time. Although the operator can control an army of these machines, most prefer to control a few dedicated machines as it is easier to concentrate 1 at a time.
Many in the galaxy respect and fear the robots fielded by the Spyrius faction for 1 reason or another. Set DataSet name: Recon Robot
Theme: Space
Sub-theme: Spyrius
Year Released: 1994
Number of parts: 134
BoxThe front of the box. It used to cost RM 39.95 in the year 1994. The box have an awesome space theme background with bright purple stars!

At the rear are some very imaginative alternate models that can be build. The 6 wheeled rover is great!

At the bottom of the box is the description where the set is made in Denmark!

Other parts of the box have great background and pictures.

Opening up the box reveals 1 instruction booklet, 1 catalog sheet and 2 plastic bags filled with bricks. The bags are the perforated type with small holes.
Instruction manualThe front page of the instruction manual is the same as the front page of the box.

The final page of the instruction showing the rear storage compartment of the robot.
The buildThe build is straight-forward and simple. We start off with the 'legs' followed by the torso, hands and head.
MinifigureOur Spyrius spacemen have a front printed torso and a red printed helmet. His facial expression looks as though he is a senior Spyrius guy.

A rear view of the minifigure with the airtank.
Recon RobotOnce completed, the Recon Robot comes alive and even has some personality!

The head is mounted on a turn-table and can rotate 360 degrees. The 2 red grille plate piece represents the robot's mouth.

Moving to the torso and hands, the middle of the torso have a red transparent piece to allow the pilot sitting behind to see. At the hip of the robot is a small box with a printed box cover. Both the arms have a printed 2x2 plate on the hands.

The pilot can sit at the rear of the torso, although from the looks of it that place is too small to sit.

The robot have 6 wheels to move around instead of legs. I think it is easier to have a stable 6 wheeled robot than a 2 legged mech which will constantly fall down.

At the rear is a storage compartment between the legs for our Spyrius dude to keep his blaster.

Another rear view of the robot, this time showing the printed computer piece slope in the torso. The cockpit of the robot is very open, hence this remote is controlled by remote control.

This robot is big, but it is still not has big as the largest Syprius robot. Quite thin at the center though.
What you can do with the robot?Spyrius Controller: Hey, can you show us what can you do?
Robot: Er..... what?
Spyrius Controller: Can you tell me what you can do for our readers here?
Robot:...... er......
Spyrius Controller: That is why I still cannot throw away this remote.

The catalog in 1994 shows Spyrius laying waste to a Unitron monorail base. Its arms are very good when it comes to grabbing poor minifigures.
Robot: Scream and show fear!!
Spaceman:
Robot: Don't you have any fear at all? Why are you laughing??!@#
Spaceman: I only have a smiling face!

Thankfully, Lego came out with dual faces.
Robot: Scream baby!
SPIII female officer: AAAARRRGGHHH!!!
Robot: I have waited long for this day!! SCREAM LOUDER!!!
SPIII: AAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH HHEEEELLPPP!!!
Spyrius Controller: Ok robot, that's enough, let both of them go now. I dun want any Space police to bug me.
Spaceman: To think we just smiled when you guys laid waste to our base last time. Even the Blacktron baddies were pretty polite during their reign of terror.
