HEY!! The baddies have escaped into the forest! Sent the police off-road command center to co-ordinate efforts to catch those baddies! Use the airboat to scout the rivers and apprehend any escaping baddies up river!

I saw this set on sale when I was on vacation in South Korea. It has not been released yet in Malaysia and I do not know how much it would cost. Since the box is the same size as the forest police Chinook helicopter, I thought maybe it will be around the same price. After conversion it is cheaper that the price of the Chinook heli in Malaysia so I thought why not? Below is the review of this set.

    Set name: Off-road Command Center
    Set Number: 4205
    Theme: City - Forest Police
    Year Released : 2012
    Number of pieces: 403
    Minifigs: 3
Price: 51,900 South Korean Won, USD 39.99, No idea on how much it could cost in RM

    Box art

The front of the box showing the off-road command center by the side of the river and a airboat chasing after a baddie.

Rear of the box showing the many features of this set.

Various warning labels in all sorts of languages. If you notice the set is made in Denmark, Czech Republic and China to name a few.

    Instructions

There is a 3 instructions booklets and a Lego survey card included. I felt that all can be combined into 1 big booklet instead of splitting it into 3. The trailer doesn't require a booklet of its own. Since I bought it in South Korea, the survey ad is in Korean language.

In the second book for the truck, the build sequence is further split up into 3 separate components. Again, all these steps can be combined into 1 big bag.

    Dreaded Sticker Sheet

A small DSS is included in this set for all the police logo and number plates. Since I may reuse the parts, I did not attach any of the stickers.

    Minifigs

We get 3 minifigs; 2 forest policemen and 1 baddie. Both the policemen are wearing shades of some kind and forest police/ranger hats. The baddie has his signature missing tooth and is wearing a broken jumper pants. Like all baddies, he still dons the stripe prison shirt. For some reason the brown cap worn by the baddie is loose and keep falling off the baddie's head.

All 3 minifigs have rear printing with the 2 cops having a radio at the back.

    Accessories

We get a large wooden box, 2 life jackets, 2 handcuffs, 1 torchlights, 1 radio and 2 paddles. Everything but the paddles can be placed inside the wooden box.

But wait, if the baddie is paddling away in the wooden box, how does the forest police store their stuff? Turns out TLG only gave ONE wooden box which have to double up as the baddie's boat and as a storage container for the forest police. Not a good cost saving measure on TLG's part.

    The police airboat

The airboat is built from a large black boat piece similar to the one used in the off-road fire truck from the year 2010. It seats 2 minifigs and have a steering wheel in front. I like how the large fan in mounted in the rear like a real airboat.

I like how the large fan in mounted in the rear like a real airboat. There is no place to hang the life jackets on the boat unlike the fire-boat from 7213 Off-road Firetruck and Fireboat, but I guess that is why there are storage drawers in the command truck.

Four rounded plates at the bottom of the boat allows the boat to glide over surfaces.

    Boat Trailer

The trailer is a simple build with 4 wheels and a flat area for the airboat. It connects to the truck using the towball in front. Unfortunately it does not come with a landing gear to remain level if it is disconnected from the truck. It is too bad since TLG could have invested a little bit more pieces for such a mechanism.

The trailer with the boat on top of it. The trailer could have been a bit longer to fully accommodate the entire length of the boat.

    Command Center Truck

The command center truck resembles the Mercedes Unimog with its distinct front and large ground clearance. Oil tanks and steps are found in both sides of the truck. The truck has looks like it has a large box placed onto its bed.

It comes with a command center at the rear of the truck with a seat that can swivel and 2 computers, a radar array which be deployed and a drawer for the radio. Inside the cab there is a steering wheel and a place for a cup. There are no seats inside the cab though.

The other drawer has space for the wooden box to store the handcuffs, torchlight and extra pieces from this set.

The rear components are modular and be removed. This means any component can be build and placed onto the truck.

If you want, you can rearranged the position of the command center and the drawers too!

    Total build

The command center, trailer and boat together. There is no place for the baddie after he has been arrested, so he had to be placed on the boat with a police officer.

    Conclusion

Design: 8/10 I like how the police "Unimog" is designed and how the command center and storage drawers fit into it. Same can be said of the police airboat with the large propeller at the back. The trailer still needs some modification to make it better.

Build: 9/10 The build is simple and easy to follow. Maybe it is because the only major colors present is blue, white and grey. To me some parts do not need to be divided into sub-components such as the command center.

Playability: 8/10 Good playability with enough minifigs to fill in the roles.

Conclusion: 8/10 A well design set for any cop and robbers chase in the forest. The Unimog is a change from the usual trucks and police cars which is found in all the Lego police sets.
